Music is Magic

I have been a musician for nearly my entire life. Music and drumming has created an incredible amount of joy in my life. Music has shaped who I am. A different path would have most certainly created a different person. It is much easier to see music's effect on others, most of all, my students. Over the last decade, I have worked with many, many students of all kinds. The positive influence of music on them is crystal clear. The way some completely open up, the way some experience new heights of confidence. The way they discover so much about themselves and set new bars of accomplishment. When the lightbulb goes of for them it is truly stunning. The excitement is extremely rewarding for me. I am but the facilitator, a guide to assist my students in accomplishing their goals in drumming. I offer them a path, I offer them my experience, I set expectations and boundaries for our working relationship, but the work is theirs to do. I take my work very seriously and I love what I do. My students are individuals and part of the challenge, and the fun, of what I do is discovering how each one of my students best learns. What motivates them, and what excites them. That is just a tiny part of the magic that music offers. As we move forward together I will try to articulate my experience, as best I can, with the magic that is music.
